Our Mission

With the recognition that music augments life and promotes flourishing for all people, pianist Heather Hancock and cellist Angela Houglin cofounded SoniCarnival, a piano-cello duo committed to bringing high caliber musical performances to marginalized audiences.  Whether performing in nursing homes, Title I schools, hospitals, memory care units, or prisons throughout the state of Georgia, the duo love sharing the magic of music through engaging, interactive performances.

Our Story

Heather and Angela met as doctoral students at The University of Georgia in 2021 where they discovered their shared passions for performance, education and social justice. An MTNA grant allowed them to join forces and realize their dream of breaking down barriers that separate vulnerable people from experiencing the transformative power of live, musical performance.

Our Performances

This season, SoniCarnival takes audiences on a tour around the world, featuring music from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. The program includes storytelling, captivating visuals, and interactive opportunities.  Questions, comments and general points of curiosity are encouraged and welcomed throughout.  Performances are flexible and thoughtfully curated to meet the nuanced needs and interests of each specific audience.
